    A very famous market when I was a youngster and I guess it still is. However I have noticed that lots of changes have taken place around this area. Guess it is a very personal thing when it gets difficult to "let go" of what used to be when it was a special time and place to be living in.

    This was my first place of worship...I was a leading chorister in this church from 1958 to 1962. I have very happy memories of my time spent in this beautiful church. My mother and grandmother were very much a strong supporter in this church-they were also in the choir. During the special times of the christian year [especially christmas} I reflect to St Michaels where the choir used to practise for the 24th Night [carol service} and then for the christmas day service...it was an exciting and magical time for me. When I visit Sri Lanka I attend some of the services and when I sit in the congregation, memories seem to overwhelm me....May God bless this beautiful church for many more and more years to come...with much love...Adrian Deutrom
